I can't believe we are at the end of February! Where is this year going?!

This month I, again, have a mixture of skin care, make-up, perfume and even reading material.

In my February GlossyBox, I received a lovely new mascara that became a firm favourite after one application! MeMeMe Mascara is volumising and leaves your lashes with amazing length. The brush is great for getting all your lashes, even the little ones in the corner. You can read a full review here.

I picked up MAC Prep + Prime last June, with my birthday money. I suffer from red flushed patches of skin on my chin and across my cheeks, which depending how much coverage a foundation/tinted moisturser has, you can still notice. This primer helps to make my face all one colour, it's good at giving slight coverage to spots as-well. It blends in really easily and leaves my skin feeling really moisturised/hydrated.

I received Benefit Make Up Remover; for Christmas and as soon as my Bioderma ran out, I couldn't wait to try this! It removes eye make up (waterproof mascara as well!) it smells very fresh and leaves my skin feeling lovely & clean. Full review here.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is one of my holy grail items, I couldn't be without it. Whilst in Glasgow, my mum & I popped into John Lewis. Looking through the Liz Earle Section, I noticed the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic; . I'd read great reviews about it and had been recommended it by a few people. It smells amazing, nothing overpowering, just really fresh. It brightens my skin and leaves it feeling so hydrated and moisturised.

I picked up Victor Rolf: Flowerbomb La Vie En Rose 2012 Limited Edition; last year when I went away, through Duty Free. It was the bottle that originally drew me in originally...i'm a sucker for packaging...
It smells amazing!! On first spritz you can smell citrus followed by a subtle smell of rose. It doesn't smell very floral, although it does remain very fresh. I love this scent, especially for the spring/summer months.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer; has been another one of those hyped up products, that I just had to jump on the band-wagon! Everyone & their dog owns at-least one of the Apocalips colours. Stellar is definitely one that stood out to me straight away. It's a gorgeous coral-red colour, perfect for the summer months. Full review here.

Whilst in Mac, browsing the lipstick stand, as you do..I could spend hours standing looking at all the pretty colours. Oh I love it. I come out of the shop with swatch marks all over my arms..and a few bags of goodies of course. It would be rude not to! I finally decided on MAC Pink Neouveau;, Oh my god, I love it. As soon as I applied it, it became a favourite straight away. It's quite a bold, bright medium lip colour. I'll have a review coming soon!

I hope you guys enjoyed my favourites, I love reading these posts!

Benefit 'Remove It' Eye Make-Up Remover: Review

Wednesday, 27 February 2013

I am a firm member of the 'Bioderma' bandwagon, so when I received the Benefit 'Remove It' make-up remover, I was a bit skeptical at it's claims to remove make-up effectively, even water proof mascara. I'd never found an incredible eye make up remover, until discovering the Bioderma. However..this product is amazing!

I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and I love it. The packaging is amazing and looks so cool, I love how the lid looks like a cork screw, though you do unscrew it like any normal lid. It's the little things!

I don't tip the product on to cotton wool pads, as the lid is quite wide, and it would spill everywhere. So I place a cotton pad over the entrance of the make up remover, and tip, a-bit like when using nail varnish remover.

It removes a full face of make up so easily, I use about two cotton pads and that removes all my make up. It isn't as quick at removing eye make up as Bioderma, but with a few extra sweeping motions, it removes it all amazingly.

It doesn't have much of a scent (which I like), but it does have quite a fresh smell to it. Nothing to over powering. It leaves my skin feeling really hydrated and refreshed, it's perfect for all skin types which is great. It is also oil-free which I think is a bonus, as some make up removers (especially eye make up removers), can leave my face feeling quite oily and just..not good!

I'd highly recommend this.

Sweet & Sour Chicken: Recipe#2

Monday, 25 February 2013
Alright' you lovely lot!

I thought I would share another recipe, from mine & Aaron's vast recipe collection. A few weeks ago we made 'Sweet & Sour Chicken and Rice' and it was a big hit. Full of flavour and a much healthier option from your typical take away. Although Pizza Hut is calling my name, I am trying to be food smart and get my 'healthy head' on, as in a  little over 3 months, It is my 21st and i'm also jetting off to Mexico! Need to get my beach bod ready for then!

Ingredients:
  • 2 skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 peppers (any colour)
  • 1 small red chilli
  • packet of sweet and sour sauce
  • Bachelors savoury rice*
  • Fry Light, A cooking oil which is used by people following Slimming World (2 syns) or 1 Calorie per spray.
*Bachelors is the healthiest option for boil-in-a-bag rice, as it isn't kept in oil, which a-lot of other packet rices tend to be.

You can add/change any of the ingredients used, to make it more suitable for you, or your preferences!

Firstly spray a frying pan with Fry Light (or extra virgin olive oil, we're not picky in our kitchen). We used 2 sprays to cook our entire meal, and that was plenty.

Then, slice your peppers (whichever colours, we used red and yellow) and red chilli. We cut ours into thin strips. After this, you can either dice your chicken or cut it into strips, whichever floats your boat.

Throw your chicken into the pan on a high heat, cook until white on the inside, or however well done you like yours to be!

Once the chicken is cooked, add your peppers and chilli and 'toss' until your vegetables are cooked the way you like them. Personally, we don't like our veg to be to soggy? we prefer them to still have a-bit or crunch :)

Put your rice in the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes to cook, then add the sweet and sour sauce to your chicken. Once the rice is done, add it to the pan and mix in.

Voila. We were a little bit naughty and served this with duck spring rolls, but hey..can't be too good now can you! I've always thought, if you cut out every single thing you love, that is bad for you, you'll crave it more and end up stuffing your face. Everything in moderation. You deserve some treats in life!!

Let me know if you guys have any recipes for me to try or what your favourite thing is to cook!

Rimmel Apocalips: Review

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Stellar 501

Whilst on a short break to Scotland with my mum, we popped into Superdrug to see what bargains we could find.
I've seen a lot of hype surrounding the Rimmel Apocalips and lots of rave reviews, so as soon as I spotted them in Superdrug, I knew I had to have one.
Stellar is the colour that stood out to me straight away, a gorgeous coral-red colour. It is a great shade for brightening your complexion and also helps your eyes to stand out.

The Lip Lacquers are a lip-gloss, lipstick and lip stain combination. " A luscious liquid packed with pure colour pigments for rich colour, phenomenal shine and supreme comfort that lasts all day"

I really like the foam applicator and it applies a lot of colour with just one sweep of the brush. I first wore this shade when out for a meal, so with food and a glass of wine, the gloss didn't really last long (which doesn't bother me too much) but the colour lasted for about 5 hours, and I still needed to take it off using my Bioderma.

This product is quickly becoming a firm favourite, and will definitely repurchase in the future. I also can't wait to try the other colours in the collection.

MeMeMe FatCat Mascara: Review

Thursday, 21 February 2013

I've never really found a mascara, that has really wowed me. I've tried a lot of different drug store mascaras and they've all been okay.. but nothing spectacular. They can either be really clumpy or drying on my lashes.

When I received my February Glossybox and noticed a mascara, I was definitely up for giving it a go.
I'm so glad I did!

I've never actually tried anything from the MeMeMe collection, although I had heard some great reviews, for some of their products.

The black matte packaging is really sleek and I love the swirly floral print on the lid. The mascara itself adds great length and definition to my lashes. They look fuller and thicker which is exactly what I look for in a mascara.
It is also great on the bottom lashes, as it doesn't leave big clumps and the whiskered brush seperates the lashes perfectly.

It retails at £7.99, and I think it is definitely a mascara that I would purchase myself.

Would love to hear any products from the MeMeMe collection that you are loving, or any mascaras you can recommend.

Naked 2 Palette:Review

Wednesday, 20 February 2013

I'd had my eye on this little beauty for so long, but could never seem to justify spending £36. When Christmas came around and my mum was asking what was on my list, I immediately added this to it.
I never owned the first Naked palette, but I knew instantly that I would love this one. Comparing the two, I definitely prefer the packaging of this one. The packaging is metal and is a lot more durable and make up friendly (hello mucky foundation marks) than the suede packaging of the original naked palette. The palette includes 5 new shades and seems to contain more beige tones.

The palette contains 12 colours, with a selection of shimmery and matte shadows. It also contains a double ended shadow and crease brush, which is a lot better quality than I expected.

The shades are amazingly pigmented and right up my street. Perfect for a subtle look during the day or a dramatic smokey look for a night out. Even without a primer, the eye shadow lasts all day/night which is a bonus.

This product is definitely worth the £36, and although I can imagine this palette lasting for good while yet, I won't hesitate in buying it again!

Let me know what you guys thought of the palette and any other Urban Decay products worth a try :)

Scotland.Baby!

Hello Guys!

As I said in my previous post, my and my mum spent last week in Scotland. We stayed in a lovely place called 'Tabet', our hotel was right on the loch and it was perfect. One one of the days, we caught the bus to the next town and on our last day, we went to Glasgow!
We enjoyed going around all the little quaint shops, which sold Scottish tartan and other little nick-knacks.

We picked up quite a lot of things whilst we ventured out, especially at Glasgow..Oops. Ahh well, we were on holiday! (that was our excuse anyway). :)

I picked up this lovely cream wooden latern from a small shop (which I can't actually remember the name of!!) which sold homemade soaps, shower gels and bath bombs ect. I saw this tea light holder and thought it was really cute and well..i'm a sucker for cute things.. :)
It was £8.00, with a candle already inside, which I thought was quite a bargain.

I had heard so many things about the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush, and when my mum picked the body wash up a few weeks ago, I knew I had to have it.
We went into boots whilst in Glasgow and I headed straight to the Soap & Glory section, I opted for the Body Butter instead on the body wash, as I just love love love Soap & Glory Butters. They feel really great on my skin and sink in really well.

I used my boots points to pick up my FIRST Essie nail polish (Shock horror), I chose a lovely summery colour in 'Peach Daiquiri' which I am certain will be a firm favourite this summer. It is a peachy/pinky/coral colour.

I was having a browse at the makeup sections in boots, when I came across the Natural Collection. I don't actually own anything from this brand, but they had an offer on where everything was under a fiver. Love a good offer :) Nothing really stood out to me, but I picked up a lipstick from the moisture shine collection named 'Pink Mallow' for £1.99, can't really grumble at that. It is quite a soft pink colour, glides onto the lips really easily and doesn't drag.
It leaves my lips feeling really soft and nourished.

In Superdrug I headed straight for the Rimmel section as I knew I wanted to pick up one of the  the much hyped about 'Apocalips'. As soon as I swatched the shade 'Stellar' I knew I had to have it. It is a bright pinky red colour and is just gorgeous!

I was after a moisturiser with SPF in it, and Olay had an offer on, I think all their moisturisers were about £3.70? Which I thought was quite a good deal. I picked up the one for normal/dry skin, as I do tend to get dry patches around my nose,

I always have a look at the MUA stand as I think they are great for the price you pay. I got this eye shadow trio for £2.50. It contains a puple/pink, a lilac/pink and a icy/pink colour. Perfect to create a smokey eye.
They are all quite shimmery shades and are really pigmented.

My Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is one of my holy grail items. I honestly couldn't be without it. So while we were in John Lewis, I picked up some more of the muslin cloths and also picked up Instant Boost Skin Tonic. I have used this every night since I got home and so far I am loving it. It leaves you skin feeling really moisturised and fresh.

Yankee Candles from Thorntons, because i'm a sucker for these candles and can never pick up just one!!
They all smell amazing and I can't wait to burn these babies ;)

Obviously I headed to MAC whilst in Glasgow and headed straight to the lipstick section, because you can never have too many lipsticks. I picked up 'Pink Nouveau' and it was love at first sight. It is a lovely blue toned bright pink.

I never really go into La Senza, but after the one near me shut down, I thought I would pop into the Glasgow store to see what they had. Picked up some lovely underwear but well..you don't need to see that ;)

I had an amazing time, and loved spending quality time with my mum.

February Glossybox.

Saturday, 16 February 2013

Hello Lovelies!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, I have been away all week. I went to Scotland with my mum for 5 days. We both felt we deserved a well earned break, and we both love Scotland! We did plenty of (naughty) eating and so much shopping whilst we were there. We traveled into Glawgow one day and came back with far too many bags. I am going to a separate post in the next few days, of what I bought whilst I was up there :)

On Monday after a very long journey to Scotland, my lovely boyfriend text me to say my Glossybox had arrived! I was a little bummed that it came as soon as I wasn't here, but what you gonna' do?!

Last night, as soon as we had unpacked, I rushed upstairs to see what I had received in my box. The past few months, I have noticed that there has been a lot of skincare included in the boxes, which is great don't get me wrong, but I was hoping for a bit of a change up and hoping to receive a few more make up bits...

I wasn't disappointed!

The packaging was perfect for Valentines, opting for a lovely pink box with pink tissue paper wrapping the products.

Top 5 Winter Nail Polishes.

Friday, 8 February 2013

Hello Lovelies'

I am a sucker for nail polishes and pick up a new colour everytime I pop into boots/superdrug/supermarkets. I feel so much nicer when I have my nails painted, and love nothing more than giving myself a mini manicure and painting my nails.

I'm much more of a summery pastels/bright nail colour kind of girl, although this winter I found some shades that I love.

I picked the lovely deep purple shade from H&M for about £1.99. BARGAIN. It has glittery flecks in it and was perfect for the festive period. 'From Warsaw With Love'.

I absolutely love the Rimmel nail varnishes, they come in so many different colours and are just great! I picked up 'Your Majesty' a silver metallic colour and 'Double Decker Red' a gorgeous red colour, from my local boots, out of Rimmel's I love lasting finish collection. These colours last a good few days without chipping, where-as other nail polishes chip really easily on my nails. No idea why. It's a mystery!

My favourite collection from Rimmel is definitely the '60 Seconds'. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and dries in 60 seconds. Which is great for someone like me, when once I've painted my nails. I want to be off blogging or getting dressed in some cases. Trying to pull up and button my skinny jeans, with wet nails is not something I would recommend. No Sir. I picked up 'Grey Matters' which is a battleship grey colour. Perfect for everyday use during the colder months. Winter is pretty grey so why not represent that with a lovely grey nail polish, ey?! Any excuse to buy a new nail varnish really.

Rimmel nail varnishes price from about £4-£5ish.. Which I think is a fairly reasonable price for a drug store nail polish.

My FAVOURITE nail polish during winter has definitely been 'Fashionista' by Revlon. Not just because the name is cute, nope. Although it was the name that drew me in. Damn names on products! I fell in love with the colour, a dark navy blue colour. It lasts over a week on my nails without chipping, and I just love my nails when I have this colour on. Strange I know but hey ho. I picked this up from Superdrug when it was on a 3-for-2 offer, it was about £7. I'm a sucker for an offer.

Although I have loved my winter shades, my summer colours are definitely at the ready, waiting to be dusted off. I love summer...

Hope you guys have all had an amazing week, and are looking forward to the weekend. Me and my mum are actually off to Scotland for a few days next week, visiting Glasgow whilst we are there, so expect some kind of haul post. Be rude not to shop whilst we're there..

Lotsa Love

January.Favourites

Friday, 1 February 2013

I can't believe January is over. HOORAY. I hate January. It is the Monday of the months, as my little brother says. It's dull and you've finished your Christmas breaks at school/college/uni and work. Back the boring mundane life. EXCEPT we actually had some decent snow this month, which I love!! Myself, my mum and Aaron took my 2 beautiful nieces sledging. Cady (4) loved it and went down on her own, little dare devil that she is, whereas Aoife (2) really didn't like it, and screamed bloody murder if you tried putting her on the sledge. We went to Mcdonalds as a treat later, and she soon forgot about her horrific experience.

I thought this year, that I would try my hardest to do 'Monthly Favourites'. I love reading other peoples, and i'm trying to get my organised head on, and do one myself each month.

This month has quite a wide selection. From Makeup & Skincare to Haircare & Nails. We like a-bit of variety here on FromRachaelClaire. Who doesn't like variety really?!

I Received MAC Lipstick: Please Me, off my gorgeous boyfriend for Christmas. It is described as a 'mid-tone warm pink'. It leaves your lips with a lovely subtle pink colour. It looks quite natural, which is something a-bit different to my other go-to winter shades, e.g. berries and reds.

In Decembers GlossyBox, I got Milk_Shake Conditioning Whipped Cream; I'd never actually heard of the brand before, but with a little research, it had some really good reviews. After giving it a go, I now use it every time I wash my hair. It leaves my hair feeling hydrated and well nourished.

I picked up Revlon Nail Enamel: Fashionista; Revlon Base Coat; & Revlon Top Coat; whilst they were on a 3 for 2 offer at Superdrug. I had been after a base & top coat for a while, and who am I to pass up an offer?! Exactly, who would?! The nail enamel colour is a lovely navy blue colour, which I have loved during the winter months. The base & top coat helps the colour to stay on for an age, and also helps prevent any chipping.

After hearing rave reviews about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: Ivory, I knew I had to pick it up. I'm so glad I did! I blend it in using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, it applies to the face really well. Leaving my skin glowing and fresh looking.

I use the Soap & Glory: Glam-a-Lot Fragrant Spray; when I want a quick spritz, without using my perfume (which I prefer to use when going out in the evening/for a night out), I spray this before I go out to work or nip to the shop ect. It is the ideal size to keep in my bag, to spray on the go. This smell is similar to my Victor & Rolf Flower Bomb, which I love! So this is a much cheaper option, without using up my perfume.

Have I ever told you guys how much I love my mum?! She has amazing taste and knows exactly what i'll like, so when I opened the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette; at Christmas I was so so happy! I love neutral eye shadows and use them a-lot for a smokey eye look. This palette contains some gorgeous beige and gold/brown colours. It also came with a lovely lip-gloss which I use over my MAC Creme D'Nude lipstick.
